The Waterfront Trail runs through the city and is perfect for cycling and jogging enthusiasts looking to take in the tranquil lakeside atmosphere.

Living in Burlington

What you'll love

What you won't

A safe, welcoming community

The city consistently ranks as one of the safest in Canada, with a strong, close-knit community.

Long commutes

If you drive to work in Toronto, commuting can be frustrating: congestion on the QEW is a fact of life.
Lot's to do
Music festivals, live performances, hiking, watersports and more.

Limited public transit

While Burlington does have local public transit, it isn’t as comprehensive or convenient as it is in Toronto.

A gorgeous waterfront

Pick a sunny day in the summer, head to the lake, and you’ll feel like you’re on vacation. Swim, hang out by the water, kayak, sail, paddleboard – the options are limitless.

Limited nightlife

If you’re looking to go clubbing, Burlington doesn’t have a lot of options – heading to downtown Toronto is probably a better bet.

Easy access to Toronto

The QEW and 403 connect residents to Toronto and Hamilton, the GO has great commuter services, and Pearson airport is a short drive away.

Limited diversity

The city is relatively homogenous, so if you enjoy a diverse culture, you won’t find it here to the same degree as Toronto or Mississauga.

Housing Options

Houses, towns and condos are all part of Burlington’s diverse housing stock. Whether you’re on the hunt for a waterfront property, a condo with an amazing view, a brand new home or a fixer-upper in an older neighbourhood, you’re sure to find something you love in the city.

Education

Burlington has well-ranked public and private schools, and post-secondary students have easy access to excellent colleges and universities in Toronto, Mississauga, Hamilton and St. Catharines. McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business also has a campus in Burlington.
  • John T Tuck Public School

  • St. Raphael Catholic Elementary School
